Why neocities
Okay, as I am making my about me page I'm looking at other pages for inspiration and most of them explain in detail why they ended up making a Neocities page so I guess I'll do the same. I first found about this Neocities subculture looking at some indie art portfolios made in zonelets! I spent hours surfing the Activity tab, enamored with all the creativity poured into each personal page and it only felt natural for me to dust off my CSS skills. I managed to have something somewhat decent months ago and forgot about it all. I write these lines the day after the US elections of 2024, helped a lot by fucking Elon. I was planing on leaving Twitter before, but I just locked up all my accounts there. For me, It is more clear than ever that no space is mine unless I make it myself. I'm not happy using Bsky either, but I don't wanna feel like an outcast. So this is where I intend to pour all my creativity outlets into. I am making this web again from the ground up. I feel like I need to regain control of my digital footprint. Fuck the far-right, get organized and fight, make your own page!
